“Indian Summer of a Forsyte", an interlude between the first two books of "The Forsyte Saga", recounts the lyrical last days of old Jolyon as he basks in the glow of his visits with beautiful Irene. “In Chancery”, the second book of the "Saga", deals with Soames’ divorce and marriage to a French woman, Annette, and the love story of Irene and young Jolyon. Gibson has always been my favorite reader so I eagerly approached listening to this audiobook. And I was not disappointed. Gibson gives her usual superb performance. She reads at a lively pace that moves the story along, deftly changes characters' voices, and provides a rich, expressive narration that allows listeners to enjoy Galsworthy's interesting development of characters and to savor his celebration of beauty and satirization of materialism.
